China's paper industry can be stable and far-reaching(2)

Jun.29.2019

If we abandon waste paper pulp and papermaking, then China needs to produce 63 million tons of pulp per year, which requires about 120 million tons of wood, which is equivalent to cutting 120 million acres of forest land every year. However, China’s scarcity of forest resources accounts for only about 5% of the world’s forest resources, which is far from enough. Under such circumstances, all the commercial wood pulp relies on imports, and the anti-Chinese scholars outside China are saying that "China's paper industry relies on foreign timber resources, then the earth will soon be destroyed."
If paper is made from waste paper, these trees will be preserved. Related research data show that trees consumed per ton of pulp can purify more than 8 million cubic meters of water during growth and absorb more than 4,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide. This is a huge contribution not only to China but to the world.
Waste paper and papermaking is typical of circular economy, saving huge investment
Why waste papermaking can save huge investment? Because even if all the wood pulp is used, the felled trees are chemically pulped, and additional investment is required as follows: an annual output of 10,000 tons of pulping equipment, based on an investment of 100 million yuan, then 60 million tons of wood pulp to replace waste paper pulp. Production line, hardware investment is 600 billion yuan. In addition, the investment in water and wastewater treatment in the 60 million tons of wood pulp production process is about 9 billion yuan, which only costs 609 billion yuan, excluding chemical consumption and alkali recovery treatment costs.
Waste paper and paperboard, as raw materials for papermaking, do not require a series of processes such as preparation, cooking, bleaching, etc., compared with forest and non-wood raw materials, which not only saves the huge cost required in the production process, but also greatly reduces energy consumption. The superiority of high-quality waste paper and paperboard as raw materials for papermaking is obvious in reducing pollutant emissions. Therefore, the use of waste paper pulp is typical of the circular economy.
Product supply and demand relationship determines waste paper recycling
According to estimates by authoritative departments, the annual packaging paper, cardboard and paper products attached to China's merchandise exports are close to 30 million tons. Therefore, in order to make up for the lack of quantity and quality of papermaking materials, it is necessary to import a large amount of foreign waste paper into the domestic market in the form of waste paper trade.
Accurate understanding of national policies is conducive to the development of China's paper industry
In the democratic style, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment has repeatedly sought the opinions of the majority of pulp and paper science and technology workers and some experts when promulgating the "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Wastes (Revised Draft)". Serving the country, society, industry and enterprises as their own responsibility, it is agreed that waste paper with a content of 0.5% or less is a high-quality papermaking material, which is also the opinion of the above-mentioned workers to the government. However, the author believes that the waste paper raw material is a foreign waste. This is to put democratic opinions on the opposite side of the national policy. It is a concept of stealing and is a misunderstanding of high-quality resources. It is also a "misreading" of national policies. This has seriously damaged the national democratic style, which is not conducive to the healthy development of the industry and is not conducive to the state's support for the industry.
