What are the types of specialty paper in office supplies

1) Carbonless copy paper (carbonless paper)

Internationally, it is generally believed that the first specialty paper is the NCR paper developed by National Cash Register, a US national cash register company, in 1945. This kind of paper is not significantly different from ordinary paper in appearance, but it can be used for copying, producing the same effect as blue carbon paper, and it will not stain fingers and clothing, and is more convenient and hygienic. Since this paper does not use carbon material for copying, it is named carbonless copy paper, or carbonless paper for short.

Why should carbonless copy paper be classified as special paper? First of all, the paper has a special structure. Carbonless paper is generally divided into upper, middle and lower pages, and each page has three different structures, which is not available in ordinary paper in the past; secondly, the added chemicals are special. For example, carbonless paper needs to prepare microcapsules, using leuco dyes, color developers, etc., while ordinary paper only needs to add general chemicals (such as rosin gum, modified starch); third, the processing technology is special. The smearing operation of carbonless paper differs according to different surface layers, it needs to be smeared many times, and the processing technology is more difficult. And ordinary paper sometimes does not need to be processed separately; fourth, the application field is special. Carbonless paper is mostly used in financial, aerospace, electronic communications, national defense and military sectors.

2) Special book printing paper

It is generally believed that the printing and publishing of books and periodicals is inseparable from offset paper, offset book paper, and coated paper. However, due to the rapid advancement of printing technology and the competition of multimedia, many high-end printing decals (named various, such as Monken paper, embossed paper, etc.) have become new choices in the book publishing industry. These special paper products suitable for special printing/packaging have a wide variety of names. They quickly squeezed into the book publishing industry, breaking the original "printing paper" dominance and the old set of standard format, making special (art) paper a new force and giving the appearance of books and periodicals. It has a brand new look and attracts more readers and collectors.

3) Anti-leakage paper

A paper with a special surface treatment developed by a Canadian company. Where confidentiality is required, just use the matching special pen---marker to divide it out. This fountain pen is transparent and colorless, and will produce a complex pattern when it touches the paper. The pattern does not hinder the reading of the article, but it will destroy the normal operation of the sensitive parts of the copier, and cause a black band to appear in the confidential part of the copied article, so as to achieve the purpose of confidentiality.

4) Tamper proof paper

France has developed a tamper-proof security paper "Secura". It uses advanced compression printing technology. When the pressure generated by the pen tip, dot matrix printer or letterpress printing is applied to the "Secura" paper, it will cause a chemical reaction with the inside of the paper fiber and the back of the paper, and it will appear on the back of the paper in one minute. Mark or text pattern. On the front side of the paper, there is a layer of chemical agents that can prevent documents from being painted, rubbed, scratched, scratched, and copied in color. If organic solvents, redox agents, acids, alkalis and other solvents are used to modify, the preparation will enter the paper fibers and leave a color mark in them. The surface of the paper is also attached with a layer of toner, such as scratching with an eraser or a knife, will also produce a color mark on the inside of the paper fiber on the surface of the paper.

5) Sound paper

Japan’s Olympus Optical Industry Co., Ltd. has developed a paper that produces sound. When you use a special scanning pen to read the fine-point barcode printed on the paper, you can hear the sound. The company cooperates with publishing houses to publish books that will speak out. The book uses a bar code with a width of 8.4 mm to record the sound. With the help of a scanning pen, the reader can hear the sound from the headset.

6) Pressure resistant paper

It is a kind of paper with strong elasticity and good tenacity after adding synthetic fiber to wood fiber and then undergoing special processing. It can be used to print books, newspapers, magazines, business cards, etc., and it is durable.

7) Nano waterproof paper

In daily life, ordinary paper is afraid of water and moisture; although offset printing paper and electrostatic copy paper are waterproof and moisture-proof, writing is inconvenient. In addition to maintaining the original writing and copying functions of paper, nano waterproof paper also has the special properties of super hydrophobicity and moisture resistance that ordinary paper does not have, improving the strength of the printing surface, and reducing the expansion rate. Since the increased cost is only about 10% of the cost of ordinary paper, this nano waterproof paper has good market potential and can be used to print water-resistant books and periodicals, long-term preservation documents, military maps, etc.

8) Safety thread paper

The security thread is also known as the anti-counterfeiting thread and Chamberlain thread. It is a kind of anti-counterfeiting mark that uses a special device to add a thread made of metal or plastic to a specific position in the paper page during papermaking. With the development of science and technology and the improvement of craftsmanship, the safety thread technology continues to develop and there are many varieties.

Currently commonly used are: invisible single-color and two-color fluorescent safety thread; opaque pink at room temperature. When the temperature reaches 37℃ with a finger, the heat-sensitive safety thread showing microprinted text on the heating part; printed with ultraviolet fluorescent text The security thread that changes color with the viewing angle; the laser holographic security thread that not only can change the color but also contains the function of pattern change; the metal and magnetic security thread detected by specific instruments; prevent the use of color copiers for fraudulent section intervals to be exposed to The safety thread for opening windows on paper. This safety thread is a visible complete or intermittent (windowed) thread embedded in the paper base. The shape of the thread is straight, wavy, zigzag, etc. When copying the printed matter using this technology with a copier, the exposed metal wire will become a black intermittent dotted line; use magnetic paint, dye, partial metal plating, force mesh and other measures to make a magnetic security wire, etc. . Safety thread paper technology is often used on box packaging materials such as cigarette packets.

9) Anti-copy paper

The so-called anti-copying is to prevent the original from being copied by the copier to produce exactly the same products as the original, so as to prevent it from achieving the purpose of forgery. The characteristic of the anti-copy paper that uses the background color pattern printing to hide the text, pattern and pattern is that the background color pattern is printed on the paper with almost no obstacles when reading or recognizing. This is a very fine dot pattern or hidden Text and pattern printing. Once copied, the pattern or hidden characters and patterns will appear vividly.

A VIOD logo paper

Contains a substance that prevents color copying. When anti-counterfeiting printed materials such as trademarks are copied with a color copier or scanned by a scanner, it will clearly display the word "VIOD" and the logo will be printed in black and white. This VIOD logo can be used on the packaging of CD-ROMs, computer software, cosmetics, etc.

B Coloring anti-copy paper

The principle is to color the base paper with specific dyes and pigments, and after exposure during copying, the contrast disappears because the text image part and the background have the same absorption. When the photoreceptor is exposed, it is almost fully exposed, there is no contrast, and the copy becomes all black and it is impossible to form an image. The disadvantage of this method is that the original is not easy to identify. The currently practical color is reddish brown.

C Photochromic anti-copy paper

The so-called photochromic is the color change of certain characteristics after light, and then return to the original color after leaving the light. The photochromic anti-counterfeiting paper is the anti-counterfeiting paper containing these substances. This kind of anti-copy paper is coated with a chemical discoloration (coloring or decoloring) material on the paper base, which is excited by exposure during the copying process to change color, so that there is no difference in the contrast between the background part and the image part and cannot be copied. After the original leaves the copier, the background part returns to a colorless state again.

D Photoluminescent anti-counterfeit paper

During copy exposure, it emits light due to light excitation, and the copy becomes white and cannot be copied.

E fluorescent paper

The paper base contains fluorescent substances (fluorescent additives are added in the papermaking process or fluorescent fibers are used), and the emission wavelength of the fluorescent substance is used in the copying process to make the copy completely black or completely white to achieve the purpose of anti-copying.

F diffuse anti-copy paper

This type of anti-copy paper is coated with a layer of small diameter and high emissivity material on the surface of the paper base, such as aluminum powder, 10 particle size titanium dioxide, glass particles that absorb red inner thread, etc., which are covered by the diffuse emission of the paper surface Or reduce the contrast between the paper and the image, make the copy appear black and achieve the purpose of anti-copying.

G Polarized anti-copy paper

This kind of anti-copy paper is made into a film of polarizer to cover the paper base. During copying, the light dichroism is used to reduce the contrast between the characters and the paper on the photosensitive drum and make the copy appear black.

H Thermochromic anti-copy paper

This kind of anti-copy paper is coated with a thermochromic material that is colorless at room temperature. When copying, it develops color due to the heat of the copier, so that the contrast between the image part and the background disappears and the copy cannot be copied. When the temperature is restored to normal temperature, the color is eliminated, and the background part that is the original becomes the original colorless state. At present, the colorless materials used for fluorescein decolorization, phenol developer, aminophenylmercury dithizone salt, etc. are used.
